Simple roots. Real food. A slower way forward.

Jacqueline and Dylan, owners of Bethel Church Homestead in Fredericksburg, VA
We didn’t grow up farming. We didn’t inherit land or know how to butcher a chicken. Like so many, we started from scratch — watching videos, reading old books, and learning one new skill at a time. What started as a backyard garden quickly turned into chickens, sourdough, and a dream for something bigger.
We’re building a life that values:
  • Homegrown food over fast food
  • Hard work and handmade things
  • Time outside with our kids instead of glued to screens
  • Learning skills that actually matter

It hasn’t been perfect — we’ve had flopped garden seasons, stubborn roosters, and plenty of trial and error. But with every season, we’re getting closer to the kind of life we want: grounded, sustainable, and connected.
We believe anyone can start where they are. Whether you’re on acreage or in an apartment, this life isn’t about having it all figured out — it’s about taking the next small step.
Thanks for being here. We’re glad to grow alongside you.
